County Championship Day 2 and CB40 cricket - 11th August

Just the two Championship matches today, and one CB40. Here's the best of the action.

County Championship

Day 2

Sussex v Middlesex
Mid - 170 & 92-2
Sus - 287

A superb bowling performance from Roland-Jones managed to just about keep the game from slipping away from Middlesex. Joyce made 68 and Yardy 89 to take Sussex past 200. More runs from the lower order seemed to be taking the match beyond the visitors but Roland-Jones finished the innings with two in two to finish with 6 for 66.
Robson (24*) and Rogers (48) put on 72 for the first wicket but two quick dismissals reduced Middlesex again.

Northamptonshire v Leicestershire
Nor - 399
Lei - 187-6

Peters was the first wicket to fall today as he was bowled by Buck for 148, but the lower order added steady runs to take Northamptonshire up to 399. White finished with 4 for 94 and Buck 3 for 82.
Leicestershire then made slow progress throughout the afternoon with Sarwan (59) being the top scorer. Wiley has two wickets so far and Northamptonshire are on top against the visitors.

CB40 Cricket

Durham v Surrey - Durham win by 142 runs
Durham won the toss and decided to bat
Dur - 298-9
Sur - 156

Durham put Surrey to the sword in a good, old-fashioned thumping. Stoneman (50) and Mustard put on 87 for the first wicket, but it was the second that made the difference. Stokes added 45, but Mustard was flying, hitting the ball to all parts of the ground. Eventually he was caught on 143 off just 91 balls including seven 6s.
He fell with the score on 271-4; already a very good score, but, despite du Bruyn finishing with 5 for 46 Durham went on to 298, setting a required run rate of 7.5.

Surrey needed an inspired start to put the pressure back on Durham, but lost two early wickets to effectively end the contest. Roy made 43, but he was caught behind by Mustard who went on to take another catch and make two stumpings.
Wood and Breese both took three wickets as the visitors slipped to defeat with the target proving much too high.

Star Player: No one challenged Mustard today, an incredible effort!
