Pro40 Cricket and Tables

Another wet May Day bank holiday left no game unaffected as all six games were interrupted at some point due to the rain.

Hampshire v Glamorgan - Hampshire win by 8 wickets (D/L)
Glamorgan won the toss and decided to bat
Gla - 173-7 (34 overs)
Ham - 151-2

Rain delayed the start of this match, reducing the number of overs, but Glamorgan began slowly, despite not losing a wicket in the first ten overs. The run rate picked up in the middle overs though, before wickets at the death meant Hampshire kept the visitors to a below par score. Walters top scored with 68, before he was bowled by Ali, one of the seamer's three wickets.
The game was won for Hampshire, though, by their opening batsmen. Carberry scored 60 and Vince 83, off 78 balls, to take the home side almost all the way. The rain returned but Hampshire were in such a good position the win was inevitable.

Star Player: Vince, for making certain Hampshire would win the match.

Scotland v Nottinghamshire - Scotland win by 18 runs (D/L)
Scotland won the toss and decided to field
Not - 219-7
Sco - 108-0

Five of Nottinghamshire's batsmen made it past 20 but only Read (59) recorded a half-century. Wickets fell at intervals, meaning that every time the innings gained pace the visitors were set back again. Late runs helped them to a respectable, if not great, score.
Scotland, however, got off to a flyer, with MacLeod (58*) in particular striking boundaries regularly. The visiting bowlers looked utterly unthreatening and when the rain eventually arrived in the 23rd over, Scotland had rolled on to 108-0. This excellent position meant that they were well ahead of the Duckworth/Lewis score and were granted the win soon after.

Star Player: MacLeod, for his calm but dominating innings that never offered a chance.

Middlesex v Gloucestershire - Gloucestershire win by 5 wickets
Gloucestershire won the toss and decided to field
Mid - 157-8 (26 overs)
Glo - 161-5
This game was dramatically reduced to just over half it's length. Middlesex clearly wanted to get going quickly which they managed until the eighth over when wickets began to fall. Gloucestershire removed five batsmen in ten overs, mainly thanks to Young. The run rate however, remained at a steady 5-an-over, and was boosted by 39 off the final four overs, despite three more wickets falling. It was impossible to know whether that was a good score or not.
Gloucestershire gave the answer, it wasn't. Despite losing Dent to the final ball of the first over the visitors charged away at the beginning, scoring 60 in the opening 6 overs, and never looked back. Middlesex took wickets every five overs, or so, but it wasn't enough to reign in Gloucestershire. They romped to victory with 22 balls remaining.

Star player: Young, for his three wickets, but more importantly not letting Middlesex make a quick start and run away with the game.

Worcestershire v Netherlands -
Netherlands won the toss and decided to field
Wor - 172-4 (27 overs)
Net - 139-1

Solanki (63) held the Worcestershire innings together and helped put on 78 for the third wicket with Cameron (38). Four batsmen hit a six, including Kervezee, who finished 15 not out from just 4 balls! That was part of a dramatic last 3 overs that lifted the home side from a decent score to a good one. The final overs went for 19, 12 and 20 runs respectively, with only one wicket falling in that time.
After a slow start though, it soon became apparent the score would not be enough, especially as Worcestershire struggled to take wickets. Myburgh is clearly in form, after his 77 last night he simply carried on today, picking off the bowlers at will. The rain returned and the Netherlands' target was adjusted to 139 from 19 overs, which easily favoured the visitors. Indeed they cruised home with 13 balls to spare and nine wickets still in hand.

Star Player: Myburgh, for his excellent knock of 74 not out, including seven 4s and four 6s.

Northamptonshire v Unicorns - No result
Unicorns won the toss and decided to bat
Uni - 79-3
Nor - 16-1

Play didn't begin until 6pm, by which time the game had been reduced to a ten over thrash. The Unicorns made a slow start and lost 3 wickets in the first five overs, but improved and scored 41 off the final four overs.
Northamptonshire, on the other hand, began explosively and so it was disappointing when the rain cut short their innings in only the second over. They were certainly in the better position but it's impossible to know how it would have turned out.

Match abandoned
