County Champ R8 - D4 & Tables and Pro40 Cricket

Final day of Sussex v Nottinghamshire and the updated Championship Tables, plus a Pro40 match from the continent.

Day 4

Sussex v Nottinghamshire - Nottinghamshire win by 7 wickets
Sus - 309 & 263
Not - 428 & 147-3

Goodwin (74) and Wright (55) carried on where they left off this morning, extending Sussex's lead, but both were removed by Adams (who couldn't bowl yesterday due to a sore shoulder). Four wickets fell for 20 runs as Nottinghamshire tried to finish the home side's innings quickly but Anyon (22*) held on to deny the visitors. Eventually Sussex were all out with a lead of 144 to set up an exciting game. Carter finished with 4 for 64.
The hosts needed early wickets but instead Nottinghamshire got off to a flyer. Wessels was dismissed with the score on 48 and Hales went 11 runs later, but the new table toppers were always in control. Lumb was lbw to Panesar but Patel completed an excellent game, adding 50* to his 7 wickets to take Nottinghamshire to the target.
Sussex get 5 points but Nottinghamshire pick up 23.

Pro40

Netherlands v Lancashire - Netherlands won by 1 wicket
Lancashire won the toss and decided to bat
Lan - 236
Net - 237-9
The best game of the competition so far took place today. Lancashire shot off at the start and looked set to post over 300. Moore made 77 from 66 balls, while Prince (34), Croft (55) and Brown (41) all provided useful runs. However having reached 199-2 from 31 overs the visitors collapsed dramatically as the Netherlands spun the innings around. Swart and Jamil both took four wickets to restrict Lancashire to only an average score.
The hosts began equally as well scoring 82 from the first 9 overs before losing a wicket. Batsmen though began to come and go quickly as no one was able to reach 50. Parry picked up 4 for 29 as the Netherlands were reduced to 187-8. Bukhari then smashed 36 from 26 balls with two 6s, but he too fell with 9 runs required from 14 balls and the last pair in. Van der Gugten though also hit a six as part of 15 not out from 15 balls to take the home side to the target with two balls to spare.

Star Player: Swart, for his 4 wickets and 41 runs, a great all round effort.
