County Champ R8 - D3 and Pro40 Cricket

Day three of Sussex versus Nottinghamshire saw the game tilt from one team to the other, while around the country there were five Pro40 matches, most of which were won easily.


Day 3

Sussex v Nottinghamshire
Sus - 309 & 177-4
Not - 428

Wessels was agonisingly caught behind for 199, but Nottinghamshire went on to take a lead of 119. His personal-best knock dominated the innings as he put the visitors ahead. Sussex wiped out the defecit but not before going four wickets down, with Carter picking up three. Since then though Wright (37*) and Goodwin (52*) have put on 78* to put Sussex 58 runs into the lead.

Pro40

Durham v Scotland - Durham win by 8 wickets
Durham won the toss and decided to field
Sco - 258-4
Dur - 259-2

Symes scored 110 off 94 balls as Scotland posted a challenging total. Plunkett went at more than 10 runs an over, where as Onions was less than 3.5. Durham made a good start to their reply going to 207 before losing their first wicket, which was Mustard, caught for 91 from just 68 balls. Stoneman though, just kept going reaching his first one-day hundred, and beating his previous best by 63 runs. Stokes was dismissed for 9 but it didn't prevent Durham from taking, in the end, an easy victory.
Star Player: Stoneman, for his huge 136 not out from 117 balls, to make what could have been a tough chase into an easy one.

Northamptonshire v Warwickshire - Warwickshire win by 8 wickets
Northamptonshire won the toss and decided to bat

War - 149-2

Northamptonshire were rolled over as they lost their last nine wickets for 84 runs. Patel took 4 wickets and Barker 3 to restrict the home side, despite opener Wakely scoring 62. Warwickshire had no such problems, chasing down the total in 32.4 overs. Chopra carried his bat for 87* to take the visitors home.

Star Player: Patel, took 4 for 27 in his 8 overs as the leading figure in the bowling line up, shaping the whole match.

Somerset v Hampshire - Hampshire win by 9 wickets
Hampshire won the toss and decided to field
Som - 212-9
Ham - 216-1

Compton (81) and Buttler (71) made almost all of the runs for Somerset and put on 121 together, while the rest of the line up struggled. Hampshire in contrast got of to a flyer before Adams was caught for 56. Carberry didn't even notice though and charged on, finishing not out on 103. He took the visitors to their target off just 28.2 overs.

Star player: Carberry, for his unbeaten century off just 83 balls.

Yorkshire v Unicorns - Yorkshire win by 8 wickets
Yorkshire won the toss and decided to field
Uni - 184
Yor - 186-2

Unicorns could only manage 184, and had New (83*) to thank for even reaching that. Sidebottom and Starc picked up three wickets each. Yorkshire were then reduced to 26-2 before Lyth (60*) and Ballance (103*) took them to a comfortable victory. The Unicorn's bowlers were once again powerless as the home side cruised home.

Star Player: Ballance for a masterful hundred in 91 balls with eight 4s and four 6s.


Worcestershire v Middlesex - Worcestershire win by 56 runs
Worcestershire won the toss and decided to bat

Mid - 179

Hughes was caught in the last over for 111, after helping Worcestershire set a par score. Finn went wicketless and struggled at times to contain the runs. Middlesex will have fancied their chance of reaching the target, especially having reached 71-1. However the home side fought hard and bowled well to remove all 10 wickets. Shantry picked up 4 for 32.

Star Player: Hughes, for his hundred that set up the game.
