County Champ Day 3 and Pro40 cricket - 16th July

I'm fed up of saying it but it has been yet another wet day. There was no play in either Northampton or Arundel, while at Old Trafford the game didn't finish until 10.40pm.

County Championship

Day 3

Northamtonshire v Glamorgan
Nor - 336-5
No play due to rain

Pro40 Cricket

Lancashire v Middlesex - Lancashire win by 7 wickets (D/L)
Lancashire won the toss and decided to field
Mid - 97-8 (16 overs)
Lan - 97-3

The start was a long time coming and more rain came shortly after, but the umpire held on and eventually Middlesex began their innings properly, but now with only 16 overs. Malan however was the only player to make a score of note, so that despite reaching 33-0 the visitors collased with Parry picking up 4 for 21. Malan made 48 but was only the third wicket to fall with the score on 67.
Lancashire's relpy didn't begin well as Moore was caught in the first over for 0 and Smith also fell early for 11. By the half-way stage of the innings (which came shortly after 10pm) the hosts had recovered to 48-2, thanks to some big hitting from Brown (36*), tragically the rain then returned but somehow play restarted 10 minutes later. Lancashire wasted no more time as Croft joined the run fest. Lancashire then cruised to victory with 2 overs to spare, although Croft (45) just before the end.

Star Player: Parry, for his 4 wickets that restricted  Middlesex from finishing their innings strongly and setting a big target

Sussex v Kent - No result
No play due to rain
