County Champ R9 - D4/3 and Pro40 Cricket

There is a real mix of games this week, with two now completed, two that should be close and two that seem to be heading for dull draws. There was also another day-night Pro40 to finish the day.

Day 3

Glamorgan v Leicestershire - Match drawn
Lei - 271 & 316-2d
Gla - 558-9d

Leicestershire made batting look as easy as Glamorgan had, suggesting a good wicket that was unlikely to produce a result in four days. Thornely went to 131 before being caught, but Eckersley finished not out on 137, his highest first class score; he may be one to watch in the future. The draw though leaves both teams at the wrong end of the table, but who knows, it may be a season of two halves.
Glamorgan pick up 10 points while Leicestershire get 6.

Day 3

Gloucestershire v Derbyshire - Gloucestershire win by 7 wickets
Der - 95 & 283
Glo - 294 & 85-3

Gloucestershire completed an easy vicotry over Derbyshire, the first team to do so this season. Seventies from Madsen and Durston were not enough to set the home side a challenging target, and, despite Batty falling for 0, Gloucestershire sailed home. Gidman finished not out for 13, to go with his century in the first innings and eight wickets in the match, an all round star effort.
Gloucestershire collect 21 points but Derbyshire get just 3.

Durham v Lancashire
Dur - 102 & 267
Lan - 170 & 56-1

Durham worked their way to 267, thanks to 121 from Stokes, to set up an exciting final day. At 71-4 the home side were effectively 3-4 following the first innings debacle, but resistance from Stokes and 50 from Collingwood, lifted Durham to a lead of 199.
Ironically, Horton, who had carried his bat in the first innings, was out first ball second time around; Onions picking up his sixth wicket of the match. Following that however came what is already the second hishest partnership of the match, as Lancashire eased some of the pressure to take the upper hand by the close.

Middlesex v Sussex
Sus - 283 & 34-1
Mid - 491

Middlesex recorded a big total despite none of their batsmen scoring a century. Rogers was out this morning for 98 after failing to add to his score, Denly, Morgan, Rayner and 10th man Roland-Jones also made half-centuries but all missed out on the three figures. Collectively however they have piled pressure on Sussex, who lost Joyce early in reply. They trail by 174 overnight and will have to bat most of tomorrow to save the game.

Worcestershire v Somerset
Wor - 340
Som - 277-7

More bad light delayed this game, which is drifting towards a draw. Compton, who was denied the chance to reach 1000 runs before the end of May yesterday, went on to yet another century, making 108 before being bowled. There was also a fifty for Hildreth and 85 from Buttler.

Yorkshire v Northamptonshire
Nor - 253 & 43-1
Yor - 416

Yorkshire successfully picked up full batting bonus points, although only two men made it past 50. Root was the star with 125 to his name. They also claimed a 163 run lead to put Northamptonshire in a difficult position. Middlebrook then fell lbw for 9, but Peters and Coetzer made it to the close without further damage.

Pro40

Kent v Warwickshire - Kent win by 10 wickets
Warwickshire won the toss and decided to bat
War - 94-7
Ken - 96-0

Warwickshire's top order was blown away as Coles (1 for 14) and Davies (3 for 10) reduced the visitors to 9-4. The first two were caught behind, and the other were also caught, suggesting poor shots to great balls. After a small recovery two more wickets fell to further compound Warwickshire's dangerous position. After 26.3 overs however, rain caused a significant break in play, to the extent that Warwickshire would not bat again, but Kent would chase 96 off 26 overs.
This relatively unchallenging target proved just that as the hosts made a quick start, scoring 33 from the first 5 overs. From there they strolled to victory without losing a wicket; Key finishing on 24 and Billings (58), who is 21 in fourteen days time, making his maiden half-century.

Star Player: Davies, for his explosive spell of bowling that set up and effectively decided the game. He finished with incredible figures of 8 overs, 10 runs, 3 wickets.
