County Champ R10 - D1 and Pro40 Cricket & Tables

Three matches begin another round of Championship matches, with more starting tomorrow, plus three Pro40 games to complete the Jubilee weekend of fixtures.

County Championship

Day 1

Durham v Warwickshire
Durham won the toss and decided to bat
Dur - 228-5

Durham lost two early wickets but slowly took the upper hand thanks to 47 from Smith, and 66 from Stokes. Collingwood finished the day 43 not out, as bad weather cut short play

Middlesex v Somerset
Middlesex won the toss and decided to field
Som - 130-4

Only half the day's play was possible as rain interrupted Somerset's innings. The visitors were struggling on 1-2, but Hildreth (58) and Kieswetter (48*) helped restore the ballance a little. All four bowlers have picked up a wicket to keep things even in the Middlesex camp.

Leicestershire v Derbyshire
Leicestershire won the toss and decided to bat
Lei - 177
Der - 5-0
Leicestershire struggled against their midland rivals slipping to 111-7 before a partnership of 58 between Ali (48) and Buck lifted their total. Groenewald picked up 5 for 29.
Only three overs of the Derbyshire innings were possible before rain ended play for the day.

Pro 40

Lancashire v Worcestershire - Lancashire win by 12 runs (D/L method)
Lancashire won the toss and decided to field
Wor - 259-9
Lan - 95-1
A thrilling final over to the Worcestershire innings included four wickets, although no hat-trick, as Shahzad ripped through the tail to prevent Worcestershire from adding vital late runs. Before all that Solanki (121) and Hughes (104) had put on 208 for the second wicket. However no one else made it past 5, meaning the visitors had to settle for a good score rather than a great one.
In reply Lancashire made a quick start, especially Moore, who raced to 52* from just 45 balls. Rain interrupted play after 11.4 overs, and after a break the target was reduced to 131 from 19 overs. However with 36 runs needed off 29 balls the rain returned and play was abandoned

Star Player: Solanki, despite being on the losing side, for his 121 off 107 balls, with eight 4s and five 6s!

Surrey v Scotland - No result
Scotland won the toss and decided to bat
Sco - 124-4

Rain interrupted this game, although it may have been because everyone wanted to go and see the Queen. Either way after 23 overs, Scotland's innings was cut short, just as it was beginning to gain momentum. Early wickets had left them on 46-4 but a strong partnership between Symes (58*) and Mommsen (30*) had given the visitors a much needed boost.

Unicorns v Kent - No result
Kent won the toss and decided to field
Uni - 177-8
Ken - 9-0

Only four players reached double figures for the Unicorns as they formed a steady 177. Having reached 88-1 Ord (52) was bowled and thereafter wickets fell regularly, causing the run rate to fall. There were two run outs, while the other wickets were shared between the bowlers.
Sadly rain again meant play ended too soon for a result.
